The undeniable reputation of Patrick Burgan as a master of vocal art has somewhat overshadowed his love for lustrous orchestral textures. Are these two facets of the composer so distinct? The search for poetic atmospheres, the use of themes borrowed from literature, create bridges between the sections of his catalogue, as proven by the work united here. These one, by their alliance between a wish to preserve the links with the history of art and the refusal of an outdated stagnation, the need of stimulating evocation for his inspiration and the elaboration achieved of the compositional materials, present in some ways the very essence of what characterizes Patrick Burgan’s approach, an artist passionate about Beauty and indifferent to fashion, creating his own, very personal niche which knows no other markers than the universals of musical, spiritual and sensual expression.
